This is a rating that a PPL or CPL can include in their license upon request. The student will have to go through all the necessary steps for the Multi-engine rating to be included, after the checkride.

The inclusion can be done together with the license (PPL or CPL), or after. It is worth mentioning therefore, that different conditions apply to each of these situations.
